Do you need help to sleep but don’t want to spend out on a new mattress? Is your new mattress harder than your old one therefore not as comfortable as you hoped it would be? Although memory foam mattresses, especially the Tempur Pedic brand, are great at providing the help to sleep you are looking for, there are other products available that can make life more comfortable without spending a lot of money.

You can lay a memory foam topper on top of your existing mattress to make your bed softer. This is particularly useful if your existing mattress is too firm. However, if your mattress is too soft for you already, a topper or memory foam pad will only make it softer.

The problem might be your pillows. If your mattress is okay, but your shoulders and neck ache when you wake up in the morning, it could be that your pillows are not as supportive as you would like them to be. There are two types of memory foam pillow available. One is a pre-formed shape that is used on its own. The shape is such that it fits into the curve or your neck and supports your head. It comes with a fitted cover but will also fit into standard pillowcases. My mother suffers from cervical spondilitis that causes her a lot of pain in the base of her neck and shoulder. My sister bought her a shaped memory foam pillow and once she got used to it, found it helped her to sleep comfortably. She now sleeps with nothing else. You only need the one pillow for the correct amount of support. Pillows are available in the normal pillow shape but they are slightly more expensive because they use more foam and are not likely to be as supportive.

Memory foam pillows and toppers are made from the same high density visco-elastic foam that the tops of the mattresses are made from. Density makes a difference to how soft the foam is – 4lbs per cubic inch is softer than 5lbs (Tempur Pedic use 5.34lbs density foam). The toppers come in varying depths but the standard is 2″ to 3″, the same amount as would be found in full mattress construction, over a harder supportive layer of foam. Memory foam is too soft to be used on its own in a mattress. As for cost, the less dense the foam, the cheaper it is, but to get the best benefit, it is recommended to not use a density of less than 4lbs per cubic inch.

Stop Snoring Treatments Currently Available

The vibratory noise that originates in the throat when there is blockage in the airway is called snoring. It is an involuntary act, which is found in both males and females. If you are a heavy snorer and you want to stop snoring then there are a number of treatments you can try.

If you think that snoring is harmless you are wrong. Snoring can have adverse effects on your health and therefore you should address ways to stop snoring.

The main reason why you should make an effort to stop snoring is because it has negative consequences in terms of social as well as physical conditions. There are many people who have been put into embarrassing situations because of their snoring habits. If you want to stop snoring you must follow certain measures. If you are overweight then following a weight reduction program should be the first place you start, as carrying excessive weight around your neck will impact on your airways. Try blowing your nose before you go to sleep in case your snoring is related to blocked nasal passages. Reduce alcohol intake especially in the evening and if youre a smoker its time to give up. These actions are the basic steps that you can take yourself to address your snoring.

But if these natural remedies dont help you stop snoring, there are other options. You can opt for surgery, which might include a throat operation to remove the soft palate and make the walls of the throat tighter. It is worth noting that the surgery is painful and immediately after the surgery you will find it difficult to swallow. Other surgical options are laser scarring and somnoplasty.

Somnoplasty is a surgery using low power radio frequency to remove the soft palate region. Local anesthesia is required for the surgery, and it takes about thirty minutes. Somnoplasty is the most effective way to stop snoring when you snore often but suffer from a breathing disorder.

CPAP is a breathing device, which you can use to stop snoring. It is perhaps the most conventional method of reducing snoring. CPAP consist of a mask that is fitted over the nose and mouth and is held in place with straps. The mask is connected to a blower that produces air pressure. You wear this mask when you go to sleep as it keeps your airways open.

Medications can also help you stop snoring. Your doctor may prescribe certain medications that help you reduce and eventually get rid of your mild snoring habits forever. If you want to stop snoring there are many options so dont lose hope. It might take a little time but once you find the correct form of treatment and adopt the appropriate remedial measures you can finally stop snoring. Consult your doctor for stop snoring options that are suitable for you.

The Acid/Base Diet

Because the average Western diet is comprised of a large percentage of processed and fast foods, it seems relatively logical that we blame our problems of ill health, obesity and fatigue on them. Interestingly enough, however, the problem more than likely IS this type of food, but, for entirely different reasons than we may think.

Weve all heard the hype about too much fat, or too many carbohydrates, or too much sugar, or too much of something else. Immediately afterwards a new diet fad springs up Low Carb, No Carb, Low Fat, No Fat, High Protein, Low Sugar, No Sugar, you name it, the diet exists. Unfortunately, weve seen the results of these diets unfavorable to say the least. Theres one reason in particular that all of these diets fail to deliver the promised results they dont address the issue of an acid/base balance.

An expert in the acid/base field, Dr. Robert O. Young, in his ground breaking book, The pH Miracle, states, The pH level of our internal fluids affects every cell in our bodies. The entire metabolic process depends on an alkaline environment. Chronic overacidity corrodes body tissue, and if left unchecked, will interrupt all cellular activities and function, from the beating of your heart to the neural firing of your brain. In other words, overacidity interferes with life itself. It is at the root of all sickness and disease.

Wow! That is a powerful paragraph! The work of Dr. Young along with research and experimental data from other truth seeking scientists and physicians in the past years have produced some amazing data that shows, in fact, that without a properly balanced blood pH level, bad things start to happen in the body. A majority of the public is relatively unaware that anything like the acid/base continuum exists. Until we become educated on the topic we will continue to suffer – as a nation – from low energy levels and fatigue, excess body weight that eventually leads to obesity, aching joints and muscles, irritability, mood swings, foggy mental activities and, yes, even PMS.

Add those problems to the other, more critical diseases that plague our population cancers, heart disease, diabetes, arthritis, etc, and youll understand why it is so important for you to take your health (and future) into your own hands and learn about the acid/base balance of your body. By learning more about this vital balance youll find yourself wanting to make a change in your diet and lifestyle.

Stop Exercising And Start Playing

Have you ever berated yourself because you didnt exercise yet again today? Have you felt that creeping guilt in the back of your mind when you climb into bed knowing you didnt follow through on your workout plan?

Well, its possible that you are not at fault. You may just be acting like a normal human being.

Take a moment to imagine how it feels to be
1) In a hot, sweaty gym full of people who are grunting through their routines, sweating all over the equipment, and strutting their bodies around in front of the mirrors.
OR
2) Rounding a curve in the trail with a light breeze gently caressing your skin in the soft evening air.

How about the difference between
1) Running around an oval track gasping for air and feeling your lungs burning.
OR
2) Racing up and down a soccer field fully challenged by the game and having a blast with your friends.

Its not difficult to decide which choices would be more enjoyable to most people. Our culture has taught us to suffer as we exercise. No pain, no gain has been the mantra for years.

The only problem is that for most people, pain is not a daily choice were willing to make. The natural human tendency is to do things that are fun, things that feel good. Forcing ourselves to do miserable exercise routines goes directly against our own nature.

An easy way out of that trap is to play more. Find ways of moving the body that are wildly fun or rewarding to the soul.

Dance around your house. Take a nature walk. Fly a kite. Go to the park with the kids and play some tetherball.

Make the choice to move every day because its fun and feels great. Choose to move because it make you feel healthy and strong and vibrant. Youll find youre getting a lot more exercise without even thinking about it in that way.

Life is meant to be an enjoyable journey not an endless round of suffering. Choose to have more joy and youll feel the difference in your body and in your spirit.
